19th Century Architecture

The 19th century, is a period after the renaissance period. This period is quite chaotic in terms of the designs. We can see that most buildings used the inspiration from the previous time and then combined those characteristics together into this new style.  This Period is also known as a period of the rich, the architecture focused on creating noble appearance to it while using the combinations of many previous styles. We can say that it is a period that focused more on adapting and developing, the period refused to came up with a totally new style like many would do. Instead, this era try to use the new combination of old styles as if it was an upgrade version of it.
Because of the industrialization, introduced at this period of time, the 19th century period added new types of materials, steels and irons which also being using in a new combinations of this era as well.  This period focused more on the façade of each building rather than the structures like previous time. It is also in the concept of advertising, because of the ability to change of the façade. It is the elements that can be adapted and replaced quite easily compared to a solid structure. The buildings in this era are focusing more on advertising space. The public buildings such as museums, libraries and universities were created to serve the needs at the time.
This era for me is a very strange era compared to others. There are many things involved in the designs of the buildings, many factors such as styles, materials and also different social classes becomes a combination to this era. But behinds those factors are limitations that this era has, due to the fact that this era based on many things rather than established it own style.  Therefore the 19th century is still lack of the specific identity. I think there is a lot of confusion in this era.
